The challenge
Bringing the exhibition "James Ensor. Inspired by Brussels" to the public.
The insight
When you say James Ensor, you still think of Ostend after 75 years. Yet, it was our capital that shaped Ensor: with its mix of ordinary scenes, striking characters, and façades. Our melting pot is both dirty and clean, lonely and wildly busy, marked by marginality and superiority. During his years at the academy, Ensor's atypical style took shape because of this. What he saw is what you see now: les vrais Bruxellois. Many Ensor campaigns, but none from this unfiltered perspective, you see.

The core creative idea
Fightclub was inspired by this unrestrained imagination and created an invitation that brings every Brussels resident, as well as everyone beyond, closer to Ensor. The campaign is based on Brussels imagery abruptly shot with a handycam, giving no chance for posing. Because you were one of them, you are one of them. If Ensor were alive today, he might have captured the city with a Sony FDR Ax-53 or an HDRXc405, and so did we.
